“Animals” is a 1977 album by British psychedelic/prog-rock band Pink Floyd. The album’s concept was loosely inspired by George Orwell’s “Animal Farm.”

This is Earth. They were formed in Seattle, Washington in 1989 by Dylan Carlson, Slim Moon, and Greg Babior. The current line up features (from left to right) Karl Blau on bass, Carlson on vocals and guitar, and Adrienne Davies on drums. The band are widely considered pioneers of drone-doom, a rock sub-genre known for slow tempos, massively fuzzy guitar distortion, and minimalist song structures.

This is Unwound. They were from Olympia, Washington. They were together from 1991 until 2002 and released 6 albums.

This is Autolux. They formed in Los Angeles, California in 2001. Their members are (from left to right) Carla Azar (drums/backing vocals), Eugene Goreshter (lead vocals/bass,) and former Failure bassist Greg Edwards (guitar/backingvocals). They make ambient, moody, gorgeous music, with great drumming. Please listen to them.

Today marks the anniversary of nothing

"A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side."
